California Solar-for-Businesses Policy Update: NEM 2.0 and Beyond

The Decision

On January 28th, the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) decided in a 3-2 vote to adopt the December 2015 Proposed Decision for the Net Energy Metering successor tariff (NEM 2.0).  Ultimately, under NEM 2.0 the CPUC has preserved full retail rate compensation for net-metered solar systems.  This is great news for California businesses.

News from Davos: Mitigating Climate Change and the World Economic Forum Agenda

In January, government and business leaders from all over the world met at the World Economic Forum’s annual summit in Davos, Switzerland to discuss today’s most pressing international issues. Many observers anticipated that climate change and clean energy would be at the forefront of the discussion at the summit because of the landmark climate deal made in Paris in December 2015. The World Economic Forum acknowledged that the most impactful risk to global society in 2016 and in the future will be the “failure of climate-change mitigation and adaptation.” Several panels were scheduled specifically to address these concerns.

Connecticut Launches Year 5 of the Solar ZREC Market

EverSource and United Illuminating (“UI”) recently launched the Zero-Emission Renewable Energy Credit (“ZREC”) solar incentive program for a fifth year in a row. Since the ZREC program began in 2012, it has provided crucial state-level incentives for over 1,150 individual solar projects throughout the state.
